Wellness Wise™ Academy – General
The Wellness Wise™ Academy was established in 2015 by Wellness Designs in recognition of the need for workplaces to build their internal capacity to deliver an engaging, cost-effective, results-oriented and sustainable employee health and wellness strategy.
Wellness Designs are a boutique workplace wellness business, specialising in strategic consultancy, speaking and training services for workplaces, government agencies and industry groups.
The Wellness Wise™ Academy training programs draw on over 20 years’ experience delivering multi-award winning workplaces solutions across the globe across a range of industries.
Our facilitators are leading workplace wellness professionals who have implemented leading-edge and award-winning programs across the country. Principal Facilitator and Founder, Katrina Walton, has built a reputation as a pioneer of workplace wellness in Australia. She has over 20 years’ experience in the development and implementation of multi award-winning wellness and human capital solutions for small to large organisations across the globe. This includes two-time winner and finalist of the Australian Human Resource Institute Award for Best Health and Wellbeing Strategy (2012/2009 and 2011 respectively) and three-time winner of the Australian Human Resources Award for Best Health and Wellbeing Strategy (2006/2007/2009).
Katrina is a sought-after speaker and trainer, having presented throughout Australia, Europe and the United Kingdom, including as an Adjunct Lecturer with the Centre for Environment and Population Health, Griffith University and University of Queensland.
The Wellness Wise™ Leaders program is conducted as a 1.5 – 2 hour workshop.
The Wellness Wise™ Champions program is conducted as a 1/2 day workshop. For established health and wellness programs, the workshop can also be extended to a full day workshop for more in-depth program review and planning.
Wellness Wise™ Practitioner
If our facilitators have deemed your assessment items to be Not Yet Competent, you will be provided detailed feedback via email and will have one opportunity to resubmit any of the items requiring further work. If further resubmissions are required, an additional administration fee of $250+GST will apply per resubmission.
If you choose not to submit the assessment items, you will not receive a Statement of Attainment from our RTO. We can provide a Wellness Designs certificate as evidence of your attendance at the two day course.
The length of time it will take you to complete your assessment items will vary depending on your experience in workplace health and wellbeing, proficiency in preparing these types of documents, and familiarity with the content. We recommend that you will need a minimum of eight to ten hours to complete the assessment items but please be prepared to put in additional hours if required.
The assessment items should be submitted in full within eight weeks of completing the course.
Students registered in the WWP course will have the opportunity to undertake assessment resulting in a Statement of Attainment issued by our affiliated RTO, WorkSafe Connect (RTO No. 31385). There are five assessment items in total, most of which you will start working on during the course. These tasks have been designed to focus on your ability to apply what you’ve learnt throughout the course and are not meant to cause stress, anxiety or sleepless nights! We use a variety of assessment methods (not just quizzes!), to let you show us what you’ve learnt and how to apply it in the workplace. For example, you will prepare a proposal for senior management, outlining the business case for your workplace health and wellness strategy or initiative.
We warmly welcome and encourage students from different countries to attend the Wellness Wise™ Practitioner course. Check with your relevant national training authority to find out if the Statement of Attainment from the course is recognised in your country. Australian training qualifications are usually recognised in New Zealand and many other countries. If you are attending a course in Australia, you will need to apply for a USI (Unique Student Identifier) whilst you are in the country with an active visa to receive a Statement of Attainment following successful completion of the course.

The Wellness Wise™ Academy partners with WorkSafe Connect (RTO Code 31385), to have our Practitioner course accredited by the Australian Skills Quality Authority, the national regulator for Australia’s training sector. This can assure you that Wellness Wise™ Academy training courses meet nationally approved quality standards. You will also be eligible to receive a unit of competency (BSBLED502) upon successful completion of our Wellness Wise™ Practitioner course. The Wellness Wise™ Practitioner training program is also accredited by Exercise and Sports Science Australia (ESSA), the peak industry body for exercise and sports scientists. Accredited Exercise Scientists and Accredited Exercise Physiologists will receive 10 Continuing Professional Development (CPD) Points for successfully completing the program. Members of the Australian Human Resources Institute (AHRI) can also claim CPD points towards maintaining their professional membership status for completing the Wellness WiseTMPractitioner course.
The Wellness Wise™ Practitioner training program is the first of its kind globally. The program draws from global trends and best-practice guidelines but with a specific focus on leading edge practice within Australia. This nationally accredited program is delivered by expert Wellness Designs facilitators and synthesises over 20 years’ experience delivering multi-award-winning health and wellness solutions across the globe. This includes the recent facilitation of the Tasmanian Department of Premier and Cabinet Healthy @Work Professional Development Program and the pilot Comcare Health and Wellbeing Coordinator’s Training. The program has been developed under the guidance of an international expert advisory group and includes practical insights from highly successful wellness practitioners around Australia. The certification requires not only successful completion of the course but also demonstrating a thorough understanding of workplace health and wellness best practice through a comprehensive assessment. All successful participants will receive a Statement of Attainment for a national unit of competency (BSBLED502) issued by our partner Registered Training Organisation (RTO).

In order to make the course as applicable to your workplace or the ‘real world’ as possible, you will be sent a couple of quick tasks to complete before you attend the course. These will be simple activities that should only take approximately 30 minutes. You will have access to these tasks once your registration is complete.
All the course materials, including the workbook and activities, will be accessible via our dedicated online portal. This online portal will house all the materials you will require throughout the course, allowing us to deliver a paper-free course. Please bring a Wi-Fi enabled laptop, tablet or other mobile device to the course and we will walk you through how to use the portal to optimise your learning outcomes. If you do not have access to a mobile device for the course, please contact us prior to the course and we can arrange for you to have hard copies of all the required resources.

Recognition of prior learning (RPL) is available upon enrolment in the WWP training course. Skills and knowledge gained through life and work experiences, which meet the competency requirements of nationally accredited training can be formally recognised through the RPL process. Students who would like to apply for RPL can contact us at email@example.com to receive an RPL Application Form and information about the Wellness Wise™ Academy’s RPL procedure. The RPL application form must accompany full payment, which are subject to the standard withdrawal and deferral conditions.
